If only more doctors could be like Mr Jan! I ended up in a consultation with Mr Jan after having had 3 scans, an MRI and 3 different doctors try to help me. I had a substantial cesarean scar defect and was told it could be dangerous for me to pregnant again (potentially a uterine rupture). Naturally by the time I ended up finding Mr Jan, I felt very powerless and confused and found myself crying in his office! He immediately put me at ease as he has a very calming nature. I felt he was very empathetic to my problem, which was surprisingly really important to me. He talked to me about what is known about my type of situation: the research and data. These cases are quite rare, and he didn't hesitate to explain that; the outcome either way (surgery or not) is somewhat unknown. It was up to me whether I wanted to proceed with a corrective procedure, and I felt I could make that decision armed with information Mr Jan had provided. In the end I chose to proceed, and I felt in very good hands the entire way. He did keyhole surgery and ended up also removing a cyst and repairing the defect. Everything was completely uncomplicated, including the healing process and post-op. The post scan shows the defect completely closed. I would 100% recommend him to anyone seeking that extra bit of care on top of his really specialised expertise. He is of the best calibre doctor you will ever find.

Mr Jan was great! Very polite, kind, professional and skilled. I went to see him for a second opinion after seeing another consultant who had suggested quite an invasive procedure (hysteroscopy with laparoscopy under general anaesthetic). I wasn't very keen and the waiting list was several months. Mr Jan listened to my concerns and we totally agreed that I should only have the hysteroscopy to start with. He was able to do this quickly as an outpatient appointment without the need for a general anaesthetic. I had the procedure at Leatherhead Hospital less than 2 weeks after my initial consultation with him. The staff were fantastic and very kind. I felt very well looked after by the trio of nurses who cared for me. The hysteroscopy was very straightforward and nothing to worry about. He found a uterine polyp and a cervical ectopy which were almost certainly causing my symptoms so we decided to remove them there and then. I found the polypectomy pretty uncomfortable but Mr Jan and his team made it as easy as possible, I felt in good hands and it was quick. It was all over and I was walking out of there in under an hour. I went home, took an ibuprofen, had tea and cake and just got on with my day. Job done! Thank you!

I was first diagnosed with endometriosis seventeen years ago and despite two previous laparoscopies and ongoing medication, I had little relief from the debilitating pain until I was referred to Mr Jan. During my first consultation, Mr Jan was also quick to identify a uterine abnormality which several consultants I had seen over the years, had failed to correctly diagnose in previous exploratory examinations. Since I have undergone the laparoscopy with Mr Jan, I've had little to no pain and haven't even required any painkillers to manage my monthly cycles. He is extremely thorough in his approach, takes the time to ensure you understand everything and doesn't try to overwhelm you with complexed terminology/ explanations.

Mr Jan removed a large cyst from my ovary and excised endometriosis. I am delighted to say the pain I suffered has completely gone and three small laparoscopy scars are healing very nicely. Mr Jan was very courteous and professional and I trust him entirely. I would not hesitate to see him again if needs be.

I had a hysterectomy (laparoscopic) at Ashtead Hospital in November 2017 performed by Mr Jan. I felt extremely comfortable in his care and already the minor incision scars have disappeared. I have made a very quick recovery and was 95% back to normal after just 4 weeks. Very happy with my treatment.
